A Beginner’s Gear guide for Ranch Photos & Videos

Why are photos and videos important?

Photos and videos not only showcase your cattle and livestock, they tell the story of your operation. They create lasting value and a connection with your audience. Our KRose team spends plenty of time traveling to ranches and getting the best photos and videos possible for our partners. We’re cattle people so we know what works and what doesn’t. We know what leads to more sales and what doesn’t. We recommend working with a professional that knows the cattle industry to get the best shots/videos and questions, but we also understand that there is a need to have your own equipment so that you can document the activities on your ranch! From calving season to day-to-day operations, you can never have too much content.

Here is some equipment we recommend if you’re wanting to get started with your content:

Sony Alpha a6400 Mirrorless Camera: This camera is beginner-friendly! It’s automatic and compact, making it easy to pack around.

Sony SELP18105G Lens: This is a great all around, high-performance lens. It has great focus and enough stabilization for shooting around the ranch.

SanDisk Extreme Pro Memory Card: This card has great shot and transfer speeds. The durability of this card is what really makes it perfect for our lifestyle. It’s waterproof and temperature proof!

Amazon Basics Lightweight Tripod: This tripod is super lightweight and easy to take wherever you go. It has an adjustable height and a 3-way head.

K&F 72mm Lens Filter: This allows you to have control of your lighting environment, and it’s a great value for the price. This will become your go to lens.

Rode Lavalier GO Professional Wearable Microphone: This microphone is tiny and easy to take anywhere you go. It picks up great audio for the price, and it’s very forgiving in all environments. It also has a clip that makes it super easy to wear!

Needing a guide to walk you through equipment, editing, and all the steps you’ll need to capture great photos and videos? We’ve got you covered. Our Ranch and Livestock Photography & Videography Tutorial Guide goes over everything you need plus how to edit, step-by-step!
